A busy weekend for Momentum Sports athletes competing in five events between the 25th and 26th April.
TCS London Marathon — Sunday 26th April
The 2026 TCS London Marathon was no ordinary race. Sabastian Sawe finished with a time of 1:59:30 to become the first man ever to break two hours in a record-eligible marathon, while Tigst Assefa set a women's only world record of 2:15:41 and there was a world record number of finishers - 59,830! Three Momentum Sports athletes made up part of this crowd.
Paul ran 2 hours 47 minutes, Phoebe ran 2 hours 51 minutes, and Rory ran 3 hours 29 minutes. Running under 2:52 means running 26.2 miles in less than 6:30 pace per mile with 59,000 others on the day the record books were rewritten, and in the sweltering heat. Congratulations to all three!

Congratulations also go to Simon who ran Newport Marathon the previous week on 19th April and ran his first sub-three hour marathon.
London Mini Marathon — Sunday 26th April
Twelve Momentum Sports athletes took on the Mini Marathon alongside the main event: Ruby, Maya, Eliza, Eliza, Saya, Anya, Sofi, Elizabeth, Kiara, Ethan, Oisin and Finn. The London Mini Marathon runs on the same course as the elite finish and is one of the most prestigious junior road races in the country. Ruby was the top finisher from the group, placing 30th overall in the girls' race and 11th in her age group.
