Pat Logan has returned from the World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, having raced across three events for Great Britain in the M65 category. The championships ran from 22nd August to 3rd September, drawing masters athletes from across the world to compete in Daegu, and Logan, a three-time World Masters Sprint Champion and long-standing member of Momentum Track Club, was part of the Great Britain team throughout.
Logan's programme covered the 100m, the 200m and the 4x100m relay, a full sprint schedule at an age where recovery between rounds and events becomes as important as raw speed. In the 100m he made the final and finished fifth, a result that puts him among the fastest M65 sprinters in the world, competing against national representatives from countries including South Korea, Japan, Trinidad and Tobago and Chinese Taipei among others in a genuinely international field.
The 200m brought a different challenge. Logan raced through the event despite carrying an Achilles injury, a difficult position for any sprinter but particularly demanding over the extra distance and the bend that the 200m adds to the flat speed required in the 100m. Being able to manage and compete through injury at a World Championships rather than withdrawing reflects the kind of experience Logan has built up across a masters career that has already produced three world sprint titles, and finishing the event at all under those circumstances was itself an achievement.
The 4x100m relay closed out his championships, and it was here that Logan and his Great Britain teammates brought home a medal. Relay running adds its own demands on top of individual sprinting, with clean baton changes needed under championship pressure, and doing so successfully while managing an injury picked up earlier in the week says as much about Pat's composure as it does about his speed. The Great Britain M65 squad's medal in the relay capped what had already been a full and demanding championships for the whole team.

Momentum Track Club's masters programme has produced a run of strong results at national and international level, and Logan's trip to Daegu continues that pattern. His M65 sprinting has been built over years of training and competition, and representing Great Britain at a World Championships, especially across three events in the space of a few days, is not something that happens without a long-term commitment to the sport well past the age most athletes step back from serious competition.
For a club built around a full age range, from the youngest juniors through to senior and masters athletes, having a member competing at World Championships level provides a marker for the whole membership of what sustained training and competition can produce over the course of a career. Pat's results in Daegu, a 100m final, a 200m completed through injury and a relay medal, sit alongside his existing status as a three-time World Masters Sprint Champion as further evidence of that.
Momentum Track Club will be looking to build on Pat's example as the domestic season continues, with masters athletes from the club already having represented Great Britain and competed at national relay level throughout 2026. His return from Daegu also comes just days before Momentum Track Club masters athletes competed in the club's own senior men's 4x100m at the Surrey Relays, a reminder of how closely the club's masters group trains and races together across both domestic and international competition through the year.
