August is the busiest month of the Momentum Sports calendar, with league matches, open meets, and national and international championships all falling within the same four weeks.
The month opens on 1 August with the YDL Lower at Lewes, followed by the U14 Inter-Counties match at Walton on 2 August. The SAL fourth match takes place on 8 August at Tooting, with the Stratford Speed GP on 9 August. The European Athletics Championships run from 10 to 16 August, with the BFTTA Open on 15 August and the Ebbisham League and BBHAC Open on 16 and 17 August respectively. The World Masters Athletics Championships begin on 22 August. The National Relay Championships take place on 23 August, the Lily B League Final on 29 August, and the month closes with the Bob Lewis Memorial Meeting on 30 August and a final Stratford Speed GP on 31 August.

For open meet entries, the Stratford Speed GP, BFTTA Open at Lee Valley and the Blackheath and Bromley Harriers AC Open are all available for individual entry. All three have featured regularly in the Momentum Sports open meet calendar through the summer and accept entries from any eligible athlete.
Momentum Track Club have teams entered across the YDL, SAL, Ebbisham and Lily B leagues throughout the month. Athletes should contact their team manager for specific information about selection, travel and match day arrangements.

At championship level, the European Athletics Championships in Madrid run from 10 to 16 August — one of the major occasions in the international calendar for any athletics fan, with Great Britain fielding a strong team across the sprint and field events. The World Masters Athletics Championships begin on 22 August, representing the highest level of competition in the masters athletics world. For Momentum Sports, it is a fixture of particular interest: Pat Logan, M65 sprinter and three-times European Masters Indoor medallist from Toruń earlier this year, is expected to compete.
The month ends with the Bob Lewis Memorial Meeting on 30 August at the Weir Archer Athletics and Fitness Centre, Kingston Road, KT1 3PB. Now in its fourth year, the meeting is open to athletes of all ages across all track and field events and is part of the European Masters League calendar. Prizes include the lemon drizzle cake for the best Masters 400m on age grading and TF1 Athletic T-shirts for the best male and female performer in each age group from U14 to U20.
