Fifteen Momentum Sports athletes travelled to Alexander Stadium in Birmingham for the 95th English Schools Track and Field Championships on 10 and 11 July. Over two days of competition across three age groups, the squad delivered two gold medals, two silvers, a bronze, and a series of strong individual performances against the best young athletes in the country. Here is how it unfolded.

Day One
Aurelia opened proceedings in the U16 girls 80m hurdles, running 11.76 to qualify for the final. Yohan was next in the junior boys 100m, also booking his place in the final. Izzy followed with a qualifying run in the 100m hurdles.
The first field event came from Tia, who jumped 5.81m in the intermediate girls long jump — a performance good enough for silver. Tia had won the ESAA South East Schools Combined Events title earlier in the season with a heptathlon PB of 4951 points, and the long jump result at this level confirms her standing as one of the leading young multi-event athletes in the country.
Joe ran the 110m hurdles, Shak competed in the senior boys 400m running 50.37, Ruby raced the junior girls 800m in 2:13.42, and Tom reached the junior boys 800m final. Gracelyn raced the 400m hurdles in 63.24 and took silver. Giles rounded out the first day competing in the intermediate boys shot put, throwing 14.77m.

Day Two
Daisy and Emma both ran in the junior girls 200m heats, with Emma qualifying for the final in 25.35. Grindan followed in the inter boys 200m, qualifying with the fastest time in the heats — 21.44. Lily ran 24.85 and Liliana ran 25.58, the latter racing into a -2.5 headwind.
Yohan was the first medallist of day two, taking bronze in the junior boys 100m final with 11.33. Izzy then won gold in the 100m hurdles final, clocking 13.66 — the first championship title of the day for the Momentum Sports contingent. Grindan followed immediately, winning the inter boys 200m final. Tom ran a strong junior boys 800m final in 2:01.81.

Two gold medals, two silvers, a bronze, and performances across all fifteen athletes at the biggest schools athletics event in the country. Grindan winning the inter boys 200m after going fastest in the heats, Izzy taking the 100m hurdles title, Gracelyn and Tia both on the podium, Yohan with a championship medal in a competitive junior boys sprint — this was a strong collective showing for Momentum Sports at Alexander Stadium.
