Momentum Track Club has announced its 2026 SAL cash prize winners, the second half of the club's season-long points incentive covering the Southern Athletics League alongside the UAG prizes already confirmed for the Youth Development League.

The SAL scheme runs on the same points principle as its UAG counterpart, but with a larger prize pool reflecting the league's senior and open categories. Athletes earn points at every Southern Athletics League match across the season, with the top five overall points scorers and the leading scorer in each of the four event groups, sprints, distance, jumps and throws, taking home cash prizes. As with the UAG scheme, any points that do not translate into a top-five or event group finish still count as entries into a prize draw, so every athlete who competes and scores across the season has a route to a cash prize.

Laura Darcey topped the standings as the league's leading points scorer, earning £450, the largest individual prize across either scheme this year. Oscar Frost followed in second for £250, with Oscar Morrell third for £175, Tayla Benson fourth for £100 and Richard Holt rounding out the top five for £75. Holt's own name on the prize list sits alongside his role as a coach within the club, a reminder that Momentum's SAL squad includes athletes who combine competing with coaching responsibilities elsewhere in the club, he will be adding his prize from this year back into next year's prize pot, even more up for grabs!

The four event group prizes, each worth £50, were spread across sprints, distance, jumps and throws. Naomi Dawson took the sprints prize, Reuben Goddard the distance award, Maddie Graco the jumps prize and Tom Carter the throws prize, giving the club representation at the top of the points table in every discipline covered by the league. Lily Richardson completed the list of winners, picking up the £75 prize draw award from points accumulated across the season.

Between the five overall scorers, the four event group winners and the prize draw, ten different athletes have now been recognised through the 2026 SAL scheme, on top of the seven UAG winners announced separately. The two schemes together give Momentum Track Club a points incentive that runs across the full breadth of its membership, from the youngest league competitors through to senior and masters athletes competing in the Southern Athletics League's open categories.

The scale of the SAL prize pool, running from £450 down through ten separate cash positions, reflects the size and competitiveness of the league itself, which draws senior clubs from across the region over a full season of fixtures. Consistent scoring across that many matches, rather than a single strong result, is what separates the winners from the rest of the field, and this year's list of prize winners spans sprinters, distance runners, jumpers and throwers alike. Laura Darcey's £450 in particular reflects a season of near-continuous scoring across SAL fixtures, the kind of return that only comes from turning out consistently rather than picking off the odd standout match.

With both the UAG and SAL cash prizes now confirmed for 2026, Momentum Track Club's season-long incentive scheme is complete for another year, closing out a campaign that has rewarded athletes across every age group and discipline the club competes in. Anyone interested in competing for the club and being part of next year's prize draw is encouraged to get in touch and join the team.
