Several Momentum Track Club athletes competed at the Stratford Speed GP on Sunday 9 August at the London Marathon Community Track, with personal bests for Grindan, George Storey and Chloe across the sprints and 400m.
The Stratford Speed GP runs two rounds of 100m for each entrant, with close seeding that tends to produce competitive heats and push athletes toward their best times. The meeting's position on a Mondo surface in the shadow of London Stadium, with a consistently fast field and tight heat groupings, has made it a regular fixture in the MTC open meet calendar through the season.
The headline performance of the day came from Grindan, who ran 10.67 in round one - his fastest wind-legal time of the 2026 season. Having won the inter boys 200m at the English Schools Track and Field Championships in July and represented England at the SIAB International in Belfast, the 10.67 adds a legal sub-10.7 100m to what has already been an exceptional summer. He followed it with 10.70 in round two, showing the consistency that has characterised his performances throughout the season.
George Storey ran 12.33 in round two, a new personal best, beating his previous best of 12.36 which had also been set at Stratford earlier in the season. The progression from 12.94 in his first season of open competition in 2024 to a PB of 12.33 in 2026 reflects consistent, well-managed training across three seasons. He also ran the 200m in 25.10, another solid performance. Both marks are documented in the Storey's Stories series, which has been following his season across open meets since June.
Chloe ran 58.10 in the 400m, an improvement of 11 seconds on her previous personal best! An 11-second drop in the 400m is a substantial step at any stage of an athlete's development and stands as one of the more significant single-meet improvements in the squad this season.
Vincent ran 12.09 and 11.88 across his two 100m rounds, with the 11.88 in round two his fastest of the day. Joshua Clinton ran 23.33 in the 200m, and Pat Logan ran 26.46 in the 200m.
Alongside the Stratford results, Pippa Hoogewerf competed at the U14 Inter-Counties match at Walton on 2 August, winning the discus with a new personal best of 31.20m, extending the London U14 discus lead she had established at Kingston in May, and taking second place in the shot put. Two medals from two events at Inter-Counties level adds to what has been a strong throws season for Pippa.
