The Momentum Sports 2026 training camp is done, and it was a good one.

This was the second time the group has been out to Monte Gordo — and after this trip, it is unlikely to be the last. The combination of training facilities, consistent sunshine, good food and a group of athletes who put the work in while clearly enjoying themselves made for exactly the kind of camp you want to come home from feeling ready for a season.
As you can see from the photos there were many track sessions in the sun, gym session getting after it, hurdles work, sprint reps and lots of smiles!

Two athletes stood out enough across the week to receive the Bob Lewis Athlete of the Camp Award — Rebecca and Oscar, who were named this year's winners. The award is named in honour of Bob Lewis, the European Masters Games Champion, long-time supporter of athletics, and friend to many of our group, who the club's annual memorial meeting is dedicated to. Receiving it means you made an impression on the group, and both of them definitely did.

A special mention also goes to Sam Ige for his organisational work across the camp. Getting a group of athletes to another country, trained and fed and happy, takes more behind-the-scenes effort than it look, thank you Sam!

The camp is ultimately about what happens next. Training in good conditions with good people builds the kind of form and confidence that tends to show up in race times a few weeks later. Judging by the energy in the group and the quality of sessions, 2026 has the makings of a fast summer.
