Strength and Power Testing

The strength of an athletes individual muscles or muscle groups are very important, as a weakness in one area can lead to a lose of performance or even to injuries.

Measuring an athletes strength and power will normally be done in the gym. There is no need to be massively strong, you will generally be looking to optimise your strength to weight ratio, but there are recommendations for various exercises for various event groups and for the ratios between various muscles and muscle groups.

The way in which you test your strength can either be to find your one lift maximum, the weight you can lift for a set of, for example, 5 lifts, the number of repetitions that can be completed to fatigue on a light weight.

We will be developing the strength and power testing area significantly over the forthcoming months.
