Play the Game – Track Athletics
– Bruce Tulloh

Bruce Tulloh was one of Britain’s top distance runners in the 1960s and he has put together a useful guide to the sport. It is aimed at beginners, particularly those in their school years, and gives a good description of the different track events available.

There is a brief history of the sport, descriptions of each of the events with their rules and tactics, as well as a very basic guide to the kinds of training needed for the various events. The tips included are very good pointers, although, being a short book, there is a bit of a shortage of detail in places.

As well as being an excellent book for youngsters getting into the sport, it will also be an informative read for parents who want to know more about a sport their children may be getting into
